When We Think We Have A Plan...We Were Wrong

Just when we decide we know what our plan is, God shows us he has a better one!

So Ben and I had decided to adopt. We were both ready we had prayed about it and felt that it was what we needed to do. So we filled out all the paperwork, signed all the gazillion papers, and got ready to mail off our 1st check to the adoption agency. Before I went to put them in the mail, I decided it might be a good idea for me to take a pregnancy test, just in case. I am not good at keeping up with stuff, but felt like I was a little late.

I have never been more confident that a pregnancy test would be negative, but I took it any way. To my surprise, when I walked back into the bathroom I looked at it and saw two pink lines. I called Ben immediately and while shaking and crying told him he was going to be a father!

We have been a little nervous about everything, because of the miscarriage, but went to the doctor today and our baby has a heartbeat!!! We are 7 1/2 weeks pregnant and due May 3rd! We are so excited! Our baby is going to be so blessed to have such a wonderful father, grandparents, great grand parents, aunt, uncles, cousins and friends that will love it and help it to become the person God wants it to be!

Right now it may only be a heartbeat, but that heartbeat is already so loved!

Adopting a lil Collier

My name is Katherine Collier. My husband Ben and I were married in June of 2008. We are blessed to have a wonderful marriage. He is the man that made my list (of 72) and has lived up to my expectations and then some.

For those of you who don't know, in January of 2009, Ben and I found out we were pregnant. We were so excited to be able to share our lives with a little one. We went to the doctor at 8 weeks and they told me there was no way we were 8 weeks along, because the baby had only grown about 5-6 weeks worth. We were given an ultrasound picture with the words "baby?" We were nervous and all we could do was pray about the situation. We went back 2 weeks later, only to find the baby had only grown 2-3 days worth. They informed us that there were only two options at that point, to wait it out and let the baby pass on its own, or to have a D&C done. We opted for the D&C. We were devastated, but I knew I had been praying that God would bless us with a healthy baby and that this baby would not have been born healthy. We were hopeful that we would be able to conceive again.

I have always known in my heart since I was very young that I wanted to adopt. So when we had the miscarriage I asked Ben if we did not get pregnant by April of 2010 would he be interested in looking into adopting. He was all for it!

I know that God has a purpose for everything and I believe that his purpose for us not getting pregnant at this point in our lives is because our baby is here in Memphis. Although there are many more reasons I am sure, we have moved here for a reason and I believe our baby might be it.

As I am sure all of you know, adoption is expensive. So in order to raise money for our adoption, I will be selling things on my blog. I ask that if you think someone else might be interested, to please pass on my blog.

Don't worry, we will not ask for money, but hope that you will find something you like for yourself or someone else. We do ask for your prayers throughout this. Our prayer is that the biological mother and father of our child will have peace and that through this experience they will find God and know him in a way they never have before. Our prayer for our child is that they will be healthy and that we will be able to raise them in a Godly way. Please keep them in your prayers, also.

I never knew I could love someone who I did not know anything about, but the love I have for our future child is enormous and I know that God will provide what we need.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and share in our lives! We are blessed to have so many loving and wonderful people all around us!
